Discovering 'ME' with MARKS! 

Where children across the country celebrate the arts, building creativity, skills and confidence along the way.  

Your child has been rolling their sleeves up and getting stuck into a day of arts at school. The theme was identity, which means they have been celebrating individuality and what makes each one of us unique.

Now it's time for children to continue their mark making adventure at home, boosting wellbeing and self esteem along the way.

In Art, Oak class and Pine class are sketching patterns for Anglo-Saxon pottery, in preparation of making their own Anglo-Saxon pots!

The children have been improving their skills in Calligraphy by discussing how to form different calligraphic strokes. We have continued to develop these skills through creating Arabic calligraphy.

Cherry class have produced Stone Age cave paintings as part of our History topic. We used oil pastels and charcoal pencils.

We have used Chalking and tissue paper to create a burning house like The Great Fire of London.

Vision for Education are running a competition to design your own Quidditch strip.  Take a look at some of our amazing entries!

Nursery have been enjoying participating in 'Squiggle Whilst You Wiggle' sessions to improve their fine motor control. We have learnt the moves 'up and down', 'side to side' and 'up, down, side to side'. This is having a big impact on the pencil control of the children. They also love having a boogie to the music!'

The children learnt how to use a range of tools and features within the program, such as the brush, fill, shape and colour-select options. They practised controlling the mouse carefully and experimented with different effects to bring their ideas to life.

Using these skills, the children created detailed self-portraits, thinking carefully about features, colours and proportions. They were able to confidently apply what they had learnt, showing great independence as they used the tools to represent themselves creatively on screen.

We really enjoyed spending time in our art and craft club creating beautiful tree ornaments with Mrs. H. Khatun. We had lots of fun making delicate paper snowflakes, carefully shaping straw Christmas trees, and designing colourful playdough Christmas ornaments. One of our favourite activities was creating cozy woolly hats, where we could be as creative as we liked with colours and patterns. The sessions were full of creativity, laughter, and teamwork, and we felt proud seeing our handmade decorations ready to brighten up the tree in Oldham's Parish Church.
