Reception: Balance Bikes - February 2025
This week in Reception, we have had a wonderful time on the bikes. We have discussed safety and checks of the bikes before we ride them. Children practised riding the bikes very fast, slowly and stopping them using the breaks.
Well done Reception for following step by step instructions!
Year 6: Hockey - February 2026
Year 6 children have been developing their hockey skills through focused practice and game-based activities. They have worked on key techniques such as accurate passing, controlled dribbling, and safe tackling, while also improving their understanding of positioning and teamwork. As lessons have progressed, the children have shown growing confidence, applying these skills effectively in small-sided games and demonstrating good sportsmanship and cooperation on the pitch.
Year 6: Multi-skills - March 2026
During their recent PE lesson, the Year 6 children took part in an exciting multi-skills competition between Sycamore and Willow class. The pupils worked enthusiastically in teams, rotating through a variety of activities designed to test their agility, coordination, speed, and teamwork. Each challenge encouraged the children to support one another, demonstrate good sportsmanship, and try their very best. The friendly competition created a positive and energetic atmosphere, with both classes showing great determination and cooperation throughout the session.
Year 4: Hadrian’s Wall - May 2026
In History, the children explored the story of Hadrian’s Wall through an exciting PE activity. Working in teams, they recreated Hadrian’s Wall and took on the roles of Romans and Celts. Using bean bags as pretend ammunition, the children discussed and developed tactics and techniques to defend their side and overcome the opposing team. The activity encouraged teamwork, communication, and strategic thinking while helping the children deepen their understanding of Roman Britain.
Reception: Balance Bikes - June 2026
The children in Reception have had another amazing opportunity. The children were taught how to ride balance bikes. Miss McLaren came to see the children on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. All the children learnt how to be safe on their bikes, how to put on their helmets and to follow the rules of the road! By Friday, everyone was able to balance and ride super-fast!
Year 4: Football - June 2026
Our Year 4 boys enjoyed developing their football skills during PE, practicing passing, dribbling and teamwork through a range of fun activities and games. The children demonstrated great determination, resilience and sportsmanship while encouraging one another and working together on the pitch.
